The roast log

Oldest batch first. Each one sits in the era of AI tools it was made with.

  1. 2020GPT-3Language models arrive as an API.
  2. Batch 001c. 2021

    Spreedly

    First experiments at Spreedly

    • Jasper

Where it started: the first AI builds, at Spreedly in 2021. I was an early customer of Jasper (Jarvis, at the time).

These first tools were interesting because you really had to lead them and get them to use frameworks. I used Jasper all the time to write, rewrite, and test email, both for lifecycle and for PaymentsFN, our conference. The best-performing PaymentsFN email we ever sent was co-created by me and Jasper. From that day on, I was hooked.

The highest-performing PaymentsFN email we ever sent, co-written with Jasper.

  5. Batch 002c. 2023

    ProsperOps

First Custom GPT: ProsperOps Content Bot

    • Custom GPTs

Once I found out custom GPTs could be shared across an organization, I got really interested in setting one up for content creation.

In an early version of context, I uploaded the company writing guidelines and a pile of FinOps documents, then loaded it with conversation starters for writing LinkedIn posts, X posts, and emails (mainly for our monthly newsletter).

LinkedIn posts, X posts, and the monthly newsletter, drafted from the company's own voice.

  10. Batch 005c. 2025

    DroneDeploy

Custom GPTs, a custom chatbot, and an AI coding partner

    • Custom GPTs
    • ChatGPT
    • Claude
    • Suno
    • Webflow MCP
    • Google Tag Manager

DroneDeploy is where my AI use really took off: content, music, SEO, the website chatbot, tracking, and analysis.

    • Created the company’s first custom GPT, trained to create content for the marketing team, and kept refining its tone and inputs. It’s had over a thousand unique conversations with the marketing team, and been forked for specific uses like SEO content and executive LinkedIn content.
    • Used Suno to make the music for all of our launch and recap videos for the customer conference. I’d only just learned how, and it kind of blows my mind.
    • Used Webflow’s MCP server to scale title and meta tag updates, and schema creation, for SEO and AEO.
    • The chatbot on our website is a custom build I made with one of our data engineers, trained on our solutions and the way our customers talk.
    • I’m not a developer, but GPT and Claude walk me through fixing things on our Webflow site step by step, custom CSS and JavaScript included.
    • Won the marketing team’s summer hackathon by shortening our forms with enrichment.
    • Built custom tracking in Google Tag Manager, with help from AI tools, to store and retrieve UTM parameters for Marketo.
    • Use Claude to analyze trends in our website traffic and our demo-form conversion rates.
    • Built several custom communication bots for executive and diplomatic communications.

The marketing team's custom GPT passed 1,000 unique conversations, and I won the team's summer hackathon.

    This café

    • Claude Code
    • Astro
    • three.js

jordanchavis.io, rebuilt as an explorable coffee shop: the 3D room, the avatar, the generated lo-fi, the receipts, and this lab.

Built with Claude Code, one conversation at a time. Every sound is synthesized and every model is drawn from primitives, with no downloaded assets.

    You're standing in it.
